NNA's efforts on mailing barcodes succeed

Postmaster General John E Potter announced Wednesday, Aug. 6, that traditional PostNet barcodes will be recognized by USPS through May 2011. Mailers may begin converting to Intelligent Mail Barcodes in May 2009 if they choose, but community newspapers will have an additional year extension to prepare for the change.
