3 candidates nominated for NNA regional directorships

COLUMBIA, MO—Chip Hutcheson, Bill Jacobs, John Edgecombe Jr. and Tom Mullen have been nominated for National Newspaper Association regional directorships.
Hutcheson, who is currently an At-Large board member, is being nominated for his first three-year term as Region 3 director (Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia). Hutcheson is publisher of the Princeton (KY) Times Leader. If elected, he will succeed Jeff Fishman, publisher of the Tullahoma (TN) News, who is completing his second three-year term.
Bill Jacobs has been nominated for his second three-year term as Region 4 director (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, Puerto Rico). Jacobs is the publisher for Southwest Publishers Inc. in Brookhaven, MS.
Edgecombe has been nominated for his second three-year term as Region 7 director (Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas). He is publisher of Edgecombe Publishing in Geneva, NE.
Mullen has been nominated for this first three-year term as Region 9 director (Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, Alaska). He is co-owner of the Newcastle News Letter Journal and other publications, based in Phillipsburg, MT. The Region 9 directorship had been vacant since Jeb Bladine, publisher of the McMinnville (OR) News-Register, completed his second three-year term in 2010.
Any NNA member may submit additional nominees. Each nominee must be supported by a petition signed by at least 10 NNA members within that region. The nominee must not be from the same state as the current or outgoing director. Send nominations to: Chairman, NNA Nominating Committee for either Region 3, 4, 7 or 9, P.O. Box 7540, Columbia, MO 65205-7540. Nominations must be received by no later than July 15, 2011.
Eligible persons will have their names added to the ballot. Ballots will be mailed July 18.
