COLUMBIA, MO—The National Newspaper Association has appointed Wendy MacDonald, principal owner of Plan4Growth Sales & Marketing, Overland Park, KS, as its sales consultant for Publishers’ Auxiliary, the NNA Convention and Trade Show, the NNA website and its other high profile products.
MacDonald is former director of media for Family Features Editorial Syndicate, an NNA customer, and served earlier as director of sales and marketing for The Canadian Press, Toronto.  She will work with NNA’s management firm, American PressWorks Inc., to promote NNA’s community newspaper audience.
“Having Wendy join our team strengthens the community newspaper brand of ‘We Believe in Newspapers,’” said NNA President Merle Baranczyk, publisher of the Mountain Mail, Salida, CO. “With her deep background of working with newspapers of all sizes, she will be able to help NNA’s customers target the best media packages to reach the community newspaper audience.”
Baranczyk said MacDonald will be a valuable resource for bringing new value to the NNA Convention and Trade Show set for Sept. 12-14 in Phoenix, AZ.
MacDonald succeeds NNA’s longtime sales representative Cindy Joy-Rodgers, who served on NNA’s staff in the 1990s and continued to represent NNA in her own marketing practice. Joy-Rodgers will continue to serve as NNA’s convention manager for the Phoenix event.
“We were fortunate to find Wendy early in our search for NNA’s next marketing consultant. Her background makes her an excellent fit for NNA,” said Tonda Rush, NNA chief executive officer. “As our website continues to develop and community newspapers continue to grow, we know that a host of businesses with new ideas and products to offer can reach the stable and growing community newspaper markets through NNA. Our goal is to help them find the right product mix for their messages so our members have access to the best and brightest ideas on the media horizon.
